Problem staring.

This is a new build. Asrock b450, ryzen 5 5600 nvidia 2080. I have tested the Corsair 650 PSU with a plug in tester and this showed no issues. When the start button is pressed the lcd light on the cpu cooler flashes but the computer will not post. I have checked all the connections and cant see anything wrong, has anyone any idea what has gone wrong? I have built many computers and this is the first failure I have had. Thanks in advance.

The bios should be fine, as it says for 5000 ryzen. No fans run, apart from when the button is pressed

Just tried it out of the case no graphics no drives but no change. I had the same issue with a previous board that I sent back (because I thought that the board was duff), and have used a new cpu. The voltages look good on the tester (the 12+ 12- and 5v) but I know that it is under no load. But then there should be no load when first switched on.

Thanks, I think you must be right. I checked the switch and there is glue around it so no loose connection also the shorting the switch pins doesnt make any difference.

Hi, its a B450M-HDV r4 and the box says it supports ryzen 5000 series.

So how far into the boot sequence would the board get? Would the fans stay on or would it refuse to get that far? Thanks for your help

I have found the bios chip on the mb and it has a sticker on it that says 10.10. So if that is the bios version then would I need an update?

I hope its the psu as I have ordered one, and if it isnt, and the bios should work with my 5600 I havent a clue what to do

Looks like it was a bad ddr4 module. I should know for sure tomorrow.

New mb, now the psu, cpu (I returned the used cpu because of the boot issue) and yes the gpu is a pre loved one (with a 5 year guarantee) Memory is on its way. If it isnt the memory I will be sobbing in the corner.

5000 series launched in 2020 and the 5600 was released in 2022, so may still need the bios update.

The plot thickens. I get the bios screen showing the processor and memory good but no drives found. Sata ports are enabled ( AHCI) spinney drive now in port 3 nvme m2 drive swapped for sata m2 but still nothing showing. Bios is latest 10.10. I feel a bit miffed.

New memory now gets me to the bios screen I will look at CSM tomorrow and when I find it I will change it to what it isnt at the moment.

Tried both settings, so back goes the board. At least I get the bios screen so I know that the cpu psu and memory are good.

Another update. Bought a Asus Prime 520M and now it all works fine. I am glad I bought the psu tester as I connected to front panel plugs to a usb header. :rolleyes:
