Problem Starting iTunes

Hi Guys,

I like iTunes, it's worked well up until now. I'm using the latest version, it's set to update when it wants.

The problem is that when I click on the shortcut on my Taskbar, the iTunes icon lights up like the program is open, then fades away and it just sits there. If I don't click it again, nothing happens. Ever.

If I click it repeatedly, I have to wait until about the 10th click when it will finally load iTunes and act as if nothing is wrong...

I've uninstalled, reinstalled and even done a system restore, the problem never goes away! I've tried googling and had a quick search of the forums, but to no avail :(

Windows 7 x64 by the way.

Does anyone have any idea?

The tickbox in preferences wasn't ticked anyway. I ticked it, closed, opened again, unticked it and checked - still no difference.

I tried all the resolutions from 800x600 to 1680x1050 and none of them made a difference either! :(

logon with another windows account (create one if you have to) and try that. then you'll see if it's a system wide problem or just your account.

Well I created a new account and tested iTunes on that, it loaded up instantly.

Could it be the size of my iTunes library? It's at ~40GB now, but I don't think that's excessive. And it's only recently started doing it.

40GB shouldn't pose a problem - my library is over 100GB and loads fairly quickly.

You could try creating a new library on your existing account to see there is an issue with your library, though. (Hold down Shift when double-clicking the iTunes icon and choose 'create new library'. Make sure not to save over the old one.)
