I bought a PS3 some time ago, around the time that GT5 Prologue was released. Played it for a bit, and then ever since it has been gathering dust.

I only recently found out that BBC iPlayer would stream through the PS3, so I fired it up last night, and this is where the problems start.

It keeps trying to update to version 2.8, but the download fails every time. Sometimes at 1%, sometimes more - it has never got higher than 66%. The internet connection is fine though, and I'm now kicking myself here at work for not writing down the error code.

I downloaded the latest version from the link listed in the sticky about, and put it on a FAT32 USB. I then tried to update from this (I think it was a PUP file) but the PS3 maintains it can see no update from storage.

Any ideas?

you need to put the downloaded firmware in the correct file structure.
Something like; PS3/UPDATE/[firmware file]

I'm not sure exactly what it is though, but the PS3 won't see it unless it's correct.

You hit the nail on the head, the folder names have to be in upper case as stated :)

Thanks chaps - there are no folders on the USB at all.

I'll wait until the 1st, see if that works, and then try the USB method.
