problem using HDMI TV as main monitor

Hi,

I have upgraded recently and all my old gear is now in the summer house for games and movies

I have a Sony LCD and 4870x2 connected via HDMI. I have problem with this set up as some times the computer will not enter boot screen.

after hours of trouble shooting I found out that everything works when the TV is connected to the PC via the VGA cable.

everything works when the TV is connected via HDMI to PC but never turn off power to the PSU

If the TV is connected via HDMI only and PSU power turned off, the computer won't boot , just like when it didn't detect monitor?

This is annoying as I tends to power down the summer house when it is not in use and the VGA does not allow me to use any hight res than 1024x768.....

I had a similar problem using an ATI card on my HDTV via HDMI. Switched to Nvidia and problem solved

Had something simular when using hdmi on a tele aswell got by this by making sure the tele was on and hdmi channel selected before powering on the pc which helped it detect the tele as a monitor.
