I finally got round round to putting my new card in my system today and although I've been pleased with it on the whole, I now can't play BF2 at all for some reason! The screen goes black after I launch it like it should do but it then just takes me back to the desktop. It's weird coz I've played HL2 DM and Portal this afternoon without any problems and I've also run 3D Mark '05 & '06 successfully so I'm not sure what the problem is, any ideas? The game was working perfectly before I took my 1900xtx out too.

Problem with 8800GT & BF2

Did you try driver cleaner when you uninstalled the ati drivers ? I`m also having display problems going from ati to nvidia, the highest resolution I can select in BF2 is 1280x1024. With my old x1900xt I could select much higher.. even reinstalled the OS... no joy.
Yeah I ran DC after I uninstalled the drivers. I did have a similar problem to this a while ago when I was changing drivers but I was getting an error message of some description but this time I'm not. I think I ended up reinstalling the game about 4 times before it stopped happening so I think I'm gonna try that, joy

Could this be driver related? I'd tend to think not though, as if this card has only just been released, the bundled BFG drivers would have to be reasonably up-to-date wouldn't they? The only other think I can think of is that the card is too hot but the highest I've seen it hit is only 72 degrees
I've tried about 3 times already but I'll keep trying. The last time that I had this sort of problem, I remember that the game would work unpatched but then patching it to 1.4 made me get the error message, this time I get kicked out before and after patching. On another note, I just installed, patched and played ET:QW and that worked fine.
