Problem with a Ford dealer

Because Warranty Direct are only paying part of the claim anyway, as they deemed the labour charge to be excessive. The extra outlay won't be recovered!

I think it's tantamount to bribery.

The fact of the matter is, Ford quoted for a piece of work and that price was agreed, the work was carried out, and the payment made. Contract over.

Now it is found that the amount was incorrect. To provide the correct documentation (which arguably should be the glow plug at price £0 - Ford business practice would require this), Ford want Olly's mum to pay for their mistake so they can raise an invoice for the full value.

Interestingly, they don't seem interested in pursuing her for the price of the glow plug otherwise....

You have a working car, you have the car now, Ford want you to pay for their cockup.

Tell ford to fo and let them chase you for the money and stop being foolish and sort the correct paper work.

Do they have a set labour charge by chance, or do they raise it when they see work backed by a warranty company coming ? ...because the warranty company must be familiar with what main dealers usually charge, surely they aren't expecting people to use a back street garage when they have actually bothered to pay out for warranty coverage on their car.

I think the original bill was already paid, and Ford wont send the correct paperwork to Warranty Direct so they will then reimburse Olly's Mum for it, so all that doing this will do is leave Olly's Mum with a working car that she paid for ...when she had already paid for a warranty to cover her against having to pay for this sort of thing. But because what Ford want Olly's Mum to pay them is (I assume) lower than the over all invoice amount she had already paid ...they are betting she will do this because it's in her interests to do so. As PMKeates said, it's basically bribary.

How much are we talking ? How much is a glow plug ?

If it's not listed on the first invoice i would be asking if they ever fitted it, surely if they fitted it, it would be listed right? If it's a group speak to the brand manager.

Why do Motors threads always derail into a he said she said bull ****?

What is the amount in question? Simply decide whether you want to pursue it further or just settle. If it is a large amount or you feel the principle is worth the fight, then write a letter to them detailing how you settled on the agreed invoice at the time.

I'd also read the T&C's to see if they can or cannot do this, highly likely they cannot unless you agreed to it.

Inform that there will be a £30 admin fee and £25 charge per invoice.

If they can mess you about why can't you charge them for your time :p

Being serious - straight to Ford, copy in a local paper in on the email and you never know they might pick it up - they love silly consumer issues like this.
