Hi guys im having some big problems with a made to measure suit i bought
when ordering the suit i made it very clear that the fabric had to be 100% wool

when the suit arrived and i inspected it for the first time i was suspicious that it was a wool/poly mix
but the advisor assured me it was 100% wool

i have both poly and wool trousers and this one feels and looks more like the poly one
So i took the suit to my trusted and experienced tailors and they say its not 100% wool
i also took it to my dry cleaners to get their opinion and they also think its not wool

I've turned the suit inside out searching for a label or something to tell me what it is composed of but i cant find anything
on their website they list it as pure wool
if it turns out the suit is not 100% wool i want a refund

but i think they might play hard ball with a refund
where do i stand legally
how can i get conclusive proof

Find someone really clever and if it is wool you won't be able to pull the suit over their eyes.

Say that you have had it tested and the goods you have been sold are not as described, in breach of the express terms of your contract and the implied term given by s.13(1) Sale of Goods Act 1979.

I seriously doubt they wouldn't offer you a replacement, which is surely all you want.

I am full of confused. Why not use the trusted tailor?

trusted tailor would charge £800 for a bespoke suit

im not that rich

i only use them for alterations

where can i get such a thing tested

and tbh dont want a replacement i just want my money back
these people cant be trusted never want to deal with them again

Why 100% wool?

if your going to spend the amount of money i did on a suit then it has to be 100% wool

poly is just crap

You have put it under inspection by 2 professionals, you have indeed 'tested' its quality and that is sufficient for the cause, at least at this stage and for something of this value. You can't be expected to run a £3000 + vat report on the quality of the materials used.

Unless it's unreasonable for them to give you a replacement from their perspective, or it would take an unreasonably long time for them to give you the replacement, you won't be able to get a refund I'm afraid, unless they offer one as a gesture of goodwill.

what about the fact that i asked for 100% wool and they said it was
and now its looking highly likely its not

i have a appointment with them on Tuesday will see what happens

Was it bought in the UK ?

Yes UK based but they send it off abroad to be switched together after taking your measurements

I answered that in my first post, the goods are not as described - that's the reason why you want a replacement.

Be amicable about it and I'm sure they'll sort it out.

Burn* a small portion of it, if it burns with a green flame then it was 100% wool, if it burns with a slight blue flame then there was some polyester in the mix.

*Please don't follow my advice

Go out for a midnight wander wearing just the suit. If you come back with mild to moderate hypothermia it's wool. If you freeze to death it's poly and then you won't care anyway.

A plan with no drawbacks!
