ive got a 4-port hama usb 2.0 self-powered hub, but when I connect my WD passport drive windows doesnt recognise the drive, it brings up the found new hardware wizard for me to locate the drivers. The drive works fine when plugged directly into the pc, my ipod works fine when plugged into the hub so the hub seems ok. Any ideas why this is happening?

Possibly because the hub isn't mains powered.I had problems with anything bigger than a phone until I bought a powered hub.

the hub has its own power, windows is just not recognising the drive and bringing up the found new hardware wizard, where i cannot locate the WD passport drivers either, any ideas?

think my 'powered' hub only supplies 500mA per usb channel, I think my wd passport needs 1amp to power up so reckion this is the problem, have ordered a dual power usb cable and hopefuly that will sort it out. Beware of 'powered' hubs that only supply minimum spec usb power!
