i have just finished installing windows 7 on my new titan xenomorph, but now i get a green box in the bottom left hand corner telling me that the CPU fan is running at 0 RPM. when i look in the asus pc suite it shows the fan spinning at around 796 rpm's then it will suddenly go red and show 0 again. i have tried to update my bios but the problem is still there. i took the side off the pc case and the fan on the CPU heatsink never stopped spinning even when the message was on screen telling me that it was not spinning. this is also for the chassis fan, that always shows 0 RPM. is it possible that the sensor have come loose in transit and juts need to be replugged. i'm just nervous as this is my first ever big purchase on a pc tower and just want nothing to go wrong. thanks........................sudeki300

Its possibly because theyre PWM fans, which basically switch between on and off really fast to produce the desired speed, as such for some of the time it will be zero rpm or off, though it will still be spinning because of momentum. What software is causing you to get these messages though???

I suspect its more the case the fans spin so slowly that the rpm sensor has trouble reading the fan speed, when I had my Abiy IP35 Pro this sometime read the fans spinning at 10k when they run at certain speeds.

If you run a stress test program do you see the fans increase in speed with the temperature.

thanks to everyone for their replies. i'm using the asus suite II, it guess it will do no harm to select it to ignore the fan RPM. just saves getting the message on the screen every few mintues....................sudeki300
