Hi, i build my PC in march and everything worked fine but over the past month or so games have been crashing to a black screen or even just a frozen screen. Sometimes i can get back to the desktop and sometimes it makes a loud static sound and i have to restart. I uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled them. I then tried crysis and it ran for about five minutes and crashed. I managed to get back to the desktop and it said "failed to create direct3d device". Does anyone have any idea what i causing this. Im thinking it may be a faulty graphics card ?

Thanks

Chris

look in event viewer for any whea errors

with 16gb of memory you might need a touch more cpi/vtt voltage maybe 1.10v from stock 1.05v

i just upped the ram voltage to a silly 1.7v and i also gave the power supply cable a shove into the power supply. Crysis ran for a lot longer and ive now downed the ram back to 1.65v. i had some problems before with the cable being a bit dodgy. could that have been the problem ? maybe if it was a little loose, would the pc even run at all ?

kernel power just means pc shutdown unexpectedly

if you have no whea errors/warnings then no need to up the cpu voltage

dram voltage at 1.65v is ok
