I was playing crysis for about 30 mins and then windows cuts in and says you are running low on memory!. Now i have 4gb of memory and i cant believe crysis is using this much? has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? im using patch 1.2

Many thanks
Ryan

Crysis has more memory leaks than a swiss cheese has holes!

However, make sure you have a page file set to at least 8Gb, and other than restarting Crysis at times, not sure of any other ideas. However, I'm still on XP so dont know if it could be a Vista issue.

Crysis player, Vista user here, never had any problems like that, best recommendation is to go on the crytek forums and see if anything is there :)

windows only pages when it needs to

you can't permanently tell it to stop anyway, just set it to 'auto'

windows knows best tbh

If possible assign it to a fast hard drive (on a a partion by itself) too.

Either that, or just use a decent USB stick for Readyboost - in the event that Windows does actually access the pagefile, it's much quicker to read from a decent flash drive than from a mechanical drive :)

I've used an OCZ stick as a readyboost drive for yonks now (it may as well do something usefull while I'm not transferring files), and I notice the difference in app switching, app loading and whatnot.

Synthetic benchmarks for readyboost don't show it to do much, but it's a nice little boost in real-world use :)

Sounds like it was a page file issue in Windows then - If given RAM, Vista will allocate it, so it looks like it had run out and was wanting to swap "old" data out of the RAM to page file, but didnt have one to do it to - hence error :p
