Problem with Dell LCD or my GFX card?

Ok I took delivery of a Dell 2407WFP-HC last week. Ive got it setup via DVI along with my old 17" Samsung LCD which is hooked up using VGA. Powering these is a lowly Radeon 9800 Pro. Basically every so often i get a weird problem whereby i seem to get display corruption on the Dell screen as seen in the photos below. If i turn the monitor off and then back on again the corruption has gone and everythings back to normal. Im pretty sure its not the monitor itself thats the problem but either the graphics card or maybe even the DVI cable.

I dont know much about dual monitor setups and the stress it puts on the video card and so from looking at the photos, what would you be inclined to think is the root cause of the problem?

Sorry this probably won't be much help. But the first picture looks like there's some interference with another device maybe. But the second picture looks more like a graphics card on its way out or maybe you need to update your drivers.

I would say it's a pretty tall order of a 9800 pro to runa a 24" and 17" screen at one. It's a pretty tall order to just run the 24" IMO.

It may be your card was fine with a 17" screen but the 24" screen and the 17" screen together will really be streching the gfx card, perhaps enough to start showing up errors.

On a general note, you will won;t get the best use out of a 24" screen without a gfx card update IMO. SO perhaps just theexcuse you need.;)

I 100% agree Greebo. I havent even fired up a game on this screen yet because it would be pretty much pointless with the graphics card i have now.

Once the flames coming from my wallet have died down i'll be upping the graphics, mobo, cpu, ram and PSU.

I had that a couple times but not as bad on this 2407 and it just went over time and i have a 8800GTX power the 24 and a 17, DVI and VGA.

I had the blue and red dots on my new 2407 (non HC). Dell were very good about it and I got a replacement asap. The replacement is still going strong.

I had it on (back then) a brand new X1950XT, and it even did it on a 9200 and FX5500. It was determined to be a bad panel or board inside, not GPU related. If you let the blue dots continue, do they get worse and worse?

I think it is borked, send it back.
