Hi guys, girlfriend just got this game so she can play it on the PC (E5200 2.5ghz, 4850, 4gb ram, vista 64 etc) but after installing it she can load it up and play but where each character is supposed to be, they are replaced with a large white square.

It seems a lot of people have this same problem but I can't seem to find a decent answer to sort it. One person suggested that installing the older version of quicktime sorts it out, but it didn't here!

Anyone have this game and encountered the same problem? I can provide a screen shot if you need me to.

She has an eeepc 901 so would it be worth a try installing on that to see if it does the same? Only problem would be there is no cd drive, can you install the game from a memory stick?

Any help appreciated :)

Try installing latest graphics drivers. Maybe look for latest patch for the game (or go back to previous version if you are already up-to-date) not sure how much tech support there will be for this game. Also have you tried reinstalling?

*edit* looked at the wiki page, doesnt mention anything about supporting windows vista? hmm...

Is there a patch out there, I couldn't find one for this game through the ubisoft website. I thought it could be to do with vista but I'm sure I read someone saying it was on XP for them. If vista would be the problem wouldn't the game not run at all, rather than just put a white square in front of every character?

Graphics drivers up to date and I tried re-installing with full/minimal installation too.

No idea if there are any patches out. Id imagine if you couldnt find anything with google or on their website there isnt.

Not used to running old games on vista but you could try right clicking the shortcut on your dekstop and click compatibility mode and run it for Win XP/95. Im sure some other people around here have better idea's. :)

*edit* as i said, not very experienced in vista! so not sure if there is actually that option :D

Thanks mate, I will try the compatibility mode option later, see if that helps! Is it possible for me to put the game onto a memory stick so I can install from that onto the XP laptop, see how that handles it? I know you can install windows through a memory stick on the eeepc, didn't know if it was easy to do with a game?

Someone must have played this game through vista either with or without problems?

To install from a mem stick, rip the CD to .ISO format, then download and install Deamon Tools on the PC. Then run the ISO from the mem stick with deamon tools. It will just act like a virtual CD drive.

As for the game, only played it on XP sorry :/

Im not sure if my suggestion will fix your problem. Id imagine the game wouldnt run if it was vista's fault in the first place but it wouldnt hurt to try. I checked on my laptop last night (which runs vista) and yeah there is a compatibility option for running xp (sp2) Not sure what else you could try if this doesnt work. hmm

As Aharvey said, make it an iso and try it on your other computer if all else fails

Tried installing it on the laptop and it also produced the white squares so have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on! The compatibility function didn't work either, so I guess it'll have to be played with a few white squares!

Thanks anyway though guys, really baffled me but guess it's just one of them things
