Problem with friend's PC

Hey guys.

My friend has two PCs, one for home and one for Uni. He has recently got in to World of Warcraft and while it runs absolutely great on his Uni PC (it's a good system) it's very poor on his other system.

I've got 2 sticks of 256DDR RAM and a fairly old, but still decentish graphics card and told them that if they worked in his PC he could have them.

Was pretty sure the graphics card wouldn't work, as I was sure his PC came out before PCI-Express but I wasn't sure about the RAM.

So anyways I tried both and neither worked.. the graphics card wouldn't fit and when we tried the RAM his passing just kept beeping when we turned it on.

So I took them out and replaced everything as it was but now there is a problem. When his PC loads up it gets to the point where XP normally asks you to logon but instead there is a black screen and a message saying something like 'Couldn't locate MSACM32.dll'. Try reinstalling it to fix the problem'. (says Isass.exe in the blue bar at the top of the popup) But when we click okay nothing happens and the computer has froze.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

Thanks.

How can I get his computer to boot up using the Windows XP CD?

I thought you did this by putting it in and then pressing a key when it says to when the computer is starting, but when we do that all we get is the option install XP, fix it (which asks us for an admin password which we don't have) or to quit and restart.

put the xp disk in and make sure you have boot from the cd drive in the bios and select new install not repair.

Okay so I put my mate's disk drive in my PC and managed to copy the needed files from my drive on to his.

Booted up his PC with the drive in and now a new error messages come up, says it cannot find 'uxtheme.dll' but when I click okay it moves on.

Gets to the Windows log in screen and then a message pops up 'A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer' and when I click okay it just says 'Saving settings' like when you log out of Windows and then it just comes up with the log in screen, and if I click log in the same error message pops up and so on.

Any ideas?
