Problem with GTX 570 in new build

It does seem like a software / driver issue. Put the card in and connect the monitor, as stulid says, and then just pop the DVD in and go through the Windows 7 install process again, as you did before.

Make sure the BIOS boot order is the DVD drive first, put the disk in the drive and boot up, it will say "press any key to run from disk etc"

So press any key and wipe the boot drive and start a fresh install.

Also before this can you try getting into windows in "safe mode" as the PC currently is?

If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.

Im wondering if Lucid has cocked your install up TBH, its a bit of a juggling act as it is to get it to work.

Ok, will report back soon. Hopefully before I need to go out for dinner :-)

You need to:

- put the clean windows DVD in the DVD drive
- Enter the BIOS and ensure the DVD drive is set as the first priority boot drive
- save and exit from the BIOS
- wait for "press any key to boot from CD/DVD"
- press any key
- install windows as a custom install (not upgrade)
- format your existing primary HDD (unless there is important data on there - if there is, stop the install, retreieve the data and start again).

Brand new PC, not had time to install anything on it yet of importance due to this issue.

Yes, im in safe mode now (with networking)

Ah, starting to make sense.

Well you said you just ran the ASUS disk supplied with the board, so Lucid could have been installed without you knowing.

Wipe the boot drive (format) start again.

What is Lucid exactly?

Its a piece of software that switches between the CPU's built in core and the graphics card (basically, it does a few more things too), I think it has Fubbared your installation because you didnt have the monitor connected to the right output ( I think thats what I read) when you did your first ever installation of Windows.

Yes, it is meant to be a vendor neutral multi gpu technology and has several flavors. But unfortunately the software is not mature enough to be hassle free yet, plus the version on the mobo CD may be out of date too.
