After too much mucking about, and deleting the wrong files on uninstalls, namly 'IconPackager' im left with a problem.

I lost 90% of my icon pictures, but fixed this by re-installing 'IconPackager' and applying std icons.

But i still can get rid of this problem:

Any ideas on what i should do? Or what the problem is?

cheers

What filetypes are they? You may have to manually change the icon associations within folder options/filetypes. This can usually happen with a bad uninstall.

Ignore the above. I have just studied the pictures more carefully and realised its the icon spacing thats the problem.

Right click on desktop, properties, appearance, advanced. In the dropdown box (first item is desktop) check the horizontal and vertical icon spacings. Default is 43 i think.

Thanks that seems to have helped in the folders (but not desktop yet) sdo you also know what the vertical spacing default is?

Thanks

Vertical and horizontal is the same value afaik.

As regards desktop, right click, arrange icons by, make sure auto arrange and align to grid are UN-checked.

Once you have done that, go back and tick auto arrange, then the same for align to grid. This should re-set the invisible grid on the desktop.

getting there, al my folders are sorted now :) thanks

as for desktop, i tried what u said. The grid size appers to be correct the icons just dont want to use the width that they can and i get sill stuff like this:
