hello guys. I need some help with my internet, agency gave me draytek ap 900 vigor router and I have internet only for 2 days and after that always it's off, I'm using wireless internet , router working perfectly but light doesn't blink lan a1 - internet cable is connected there. So last time they fix it and was working 2 days and i was trying to download movie and I saw how internet going down and boom no internet connection writhing on the laptop, what's the problem ? Any ideas what to do ? I can see router on my computer but I don't know how to fix again my internet , I called agency so they might come tomorrow or after.... I need help please ! By the way I have 2 cables. 1 power from socket and another one blue cable from the wall to the router.internet is very fast 70mb/s on netspeed and ping is 7ms.

Have you got an ethernet cable you can use in to see if the router is working at all?

In your laptop wireless settings forget the network you use now then re-connect and put the details in again, that could help.

I try to connect with Ethernet cable and looks like router working, lan a1 port was on but internet is not working still, it says on my computer Ethernet doesn't have valid ip adress smth like that and i try many commands on cmd to reset and nothing , any ideas ?

What equipment are you using? A DrayTek AP-900 is an (old model) wireless access point. What are you using for a router?

Who's your ISP?

What kind of connection is it?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the AP-900 just an access point? It's not even a router...

What ISP are you with, and do you have a modem with it?

EDIT: Beaten to it :p.

Well, when I moved to this house was only draytek ap 900 vigor and thats it, its agency router, even if u can call it router, I think my internet is BT actually i don't know many things about this networking, but I'll try to answer all questions. I don't have any modem, just vigor ap900 connected to the socket and one extra cable from the wall to ap900

Does the port on the socket look like a standard phone socket, or is it an ethernet port like on the Draytek?

The reason you're not getting a valid IP address is because there's no router with a DHCP server to assign it one.

No its not working, saying cable is not connected but i plugged to my laptop, only says it's connect when I using another cable from vigor to laptop but it's saying ip adress is not valid, so I don't understand nothing. And why it was working only few days internet....

If it was working okay before then just let them come and fix it. When they do try to find out what the fault was, and it was something you could have fixed from your end.

Also try to get an understanding of what they are actually providing you with. There must be some sort of documentation/guidance available.

so i have internet already, its working good, problem was with cables outside the house, he plug the cable and its working perfect, i was trying to connect to my router but i dont know password, i think they change it, i try like admin-admin, admin-password and its not working, i just saw many people connected to the same BT line, so i dont know, i cant change any settings, what should i check now till internet working perfect, maybe tomorrow will be off again....

You haven't got a router. You've got a connection back (from your wall port) to their router, and they aren't going to let you access that.

The DrayTek AP-900 is a wireless access point. The default username/password for that would be admin/admin. If the access point belongs to them then I wouldn't expect you to be able to access to it.

If they've provided the credentials so that you can connect a wireless device to the access point then that's all you need to have, and all you should expect to have.
