Got a nice new shinny xfx gtx 280 today. Plug in with 2 x 6 pin power and cant get a image and the fan wont spin. Anything anyone can suggest before I RMA it? Going to try in a mates PC 2morow to be sure.

I have a Coolmaster 620W PSU
Q6600 GO at stock speed
SSD
HDD
1 DVD drive

So I think that fine on power front?

Cheers

but instructions say ok to use just 2 x 6 pin, that not correct? Surly the fan should come on with 2 x 6 pin? Doesn't work in my mums pc either (tho psu hasn't got any power leads) and card shows a red light

if the card is showing a red light it means there's a problem with the power. The card should have come with some adapters if you don't have an 8 pin connector from your PSU. Pretty sure you'll need to connect both an 8pin and a 6pin, be it via an adapter or direct.

How the **** do you take the stock heatsink fan apart? any screws or is it like instructions say and just prize and pull? Seems rather dangerous i cant get mine done

there are like 10 or 12 screws on the back, you will have to peel off the xfx sticker etc and do it. This will void the warrenty and you cant really send it back saying you didnt do anything as the sticker consists of "layer of sticky goo werid stuff" and a layer of plastic. You cannot do take it off without making it obvious what you have done., Screws are also under the sticky weird stuff. You then have to pry apart the HSF etc. There is a guide on some forums. google for the guide to the EVGA one.
