Problem with new MSI Twin frozr HD7950

Hope someone can help
Just installed the MSI twin frozr HD 7950 in my sons PC.
Previous card was an XFX 6870 which worked perfectly no problems at all.
MB is Asrock Extreme 4 and Intell i5 3570
PSU is EZCool 700 watt.
Graphics card installed no problem and seems to run windows fine.

Counter-Strike go - After around 10 mins of game play PC suddenly shutdown and restarted as though someone had flipped the power switch.
Prior to the shutdown the fans were quiet and temps 60-70

BioShock Infinate same thing again after about 10 mins gameplay.

The driver is 13.1 off the cd

Should this be rma'd or is there anything I can try?

Download the newest driver from the amd site for a start

Then double check all the power cables are connected properly, at a guess youd have a 6+6 or 8+6 cables required

Also what is your psu make and model etc? Edit:- just seen the psu. Tbh the no name psu is a bit of a worry, it may not be able to handle the 7950 at full load

The psu has 2x 6 way pcie power plugs off different rails
The card has a 6 way and 8 way pcie power sockets
Plugged one of the 6 way straight in the card and used the 6-8 adapter that came with the card for the other socket
I'm d/loading the latest msi driver now and will also try a jeantech 700watt modular psu i have and let you know

Sounds like a psu issue. Classic symptoms, pc shutting off.

Is your gpu overclocked?

You need to update your drivers badly. Use the latest beta, 13.10. Uninstall old drivers first.

I would beg borrow and steal another PSU to try.

I swapped out everything on my computer once for the same issues and it turned out to be a faulty PSU.

Just looked, it is an under £40 700 watt PSU

EzCool PSU are known have pants output over the 12v rail. Going by their tradition, the chances are for your 700W PSU, it might not even be able to output up to 350W...

While the psu is likely terrible, judging by its spec it should be able to handle the 7950 and I don't think it would use much more power than the 6870. The first thing to try is a new psu however as it could still be the cause. Also check your cpu temperatures.
