Problem with Noise margin

Tried another BT filter to no avail. I have ran that bt speed test and got just short of 800k (what I should be getting). So that would mean the problem was with the router?

If you are getting the correct speed when connected to the BT Speedtest login then that rules out your hardware/computer and the local exchange. It indicates that there is a problem that you should be talking to your ISP about.

Just out of interest what would be the benefit of having a NTE5 over just a standard socket?

Not a great deal. Just the removable lower faceplate which makes it easier to wire extensions in, gives you the test socket and lets you use ADSL faceplates.
