Problem with second hard drive

Last night it was fine, boot up the PC today and I can't open my second HD, it also doesn't say the capacity of the HD. Can't access it at all. It says "You need to format drive E: before you can use it.

Like I say, was working fine last night. I have only just purchased this HD. Any ideas?

Brand and model number of the hardrive and the system it is used on may help us more to help you.

Erm, try seeing what it says in Disk Management.

Go to control panel, open Administrative tools and click on disk management.

In there you can choose partition sizes, formatting, naming the hdd something else but also tells you if the hdd is healthy or not.

Also run a chkdsk /f, restart the computer, let windows do its thing and that might fix any errors that have messed around with the hdd!
