Problem with shutdown in Win7

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I keep having when I shutdown using the shutdown button in the start menu in W7.

Whenever I try to shutdown my system using this button, my machine will shutdown, but a couple of seconds later it will startup again all by itself.

I have tried googling this problem to see if anyone else has experienced this, but so far I haven't managed to find anything at all.

Has anyone here experienced this, and if so, do you know how to fix it?

Is it a new build with Windows 7 put straight on?

no, I have had this rig for a few months now.

I have found someone else on another forum that is experiencing this issue as well, but they haven't found a solution for this neither.

It is really annoying to say the least!

Is Windows definitely shutting down and not blue screening just before it exits?

Definitely shutting down, if it were BSOD'ing it would tell me when it booted back into Windows again..

I am completely stumped tbh, and it is starting to do my head in!

Is it just Win7? Try booting off a linux liveCD or something and try shutting your system down using that.

It didn't do this when I was running Vista Ultimate x64 a few weeks ago.
