Problem with sound on Steam games

On gta:SA, max payne 2, gta:VC and a few others I either get sound cutting out, sounds repeated indefinetly or strange noises. I'm using a Xonar D1 7.1 and win7 64. I don't get this on any of the newer games. Anyone know what I can do about this?

You certain it is ALL games on Steam?

sorry no I meant not on newer Steam games, only the older ones as above.

Disable DS3D on the Xonar control panel perhaps?
