Dear all,

I'm having big problems with Vista Media Center - basically, i can't play DivX.

Though, when playing through WMP, it plays fine.

I started off by installing K Lite codec pack
Then just the FFDShow jobby
Now i've installed Media Control plug in, but still no luck

Either says a codec isn't present or installed, OR software needed to play this isn't installed properly, please restart

Would really appreciate any hints or tips!

Media Center's been able to play DivX since... ever? Media Center's just a shiny front end to WMP. If Media Player can play DivX, then Media Center will be able to play DivX.

(N.B. This is not the default case in Vista 64-bit, as WMP is 32-bit by default, and MCE uses WMP 64-bit - hence the need for additional codecs)

I'm so retarded.... Last time I tried it didn't work and i've never thought to look again. Thanks.

Yep, been happily playing DivX/Xvid on my old MCE2005 box for over 3.5 years now :)

No problems with such files on Vista x64 Media Centre either. Installed the Vista Codec Package and the additional x64 components and everyting plays, even HD mkv files :)

Thanks for your help - worked perfectly!

have a few issues sharing network drives.. but at least divx works!
