I recently bought a PowerColor ATI Radeon X850 XT 256MB DDR3 VIVO TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-058-PC) and yesterday I noticed some artifacts while playing my games as usual.
I know there are 2 possibilities for this, one being overheating and the other being faulty card or faulty memory on the card to be more precise. Also note that no attempt to overclock the card was made and being used with the original ATI drivers since bought. Any ideas to determine if its heat problems or faulty memory and if so how I could get a replacement?

Thanks.

If it is indeed faulty, and hasn't been tampered with in any way, sound like its time to RMA the card back to OcUK.

You will need to go HERE and follow the RMA procedure.

I suspect this thread will close as technically its a "store matter".

Use ATItool as that'll let you monitor temperatures. Use the Scan for Artifacts button and see what happens.

Dear paradigm I can assure you the card is not modified in any way. Took it from the box and pluged it. Installed official drivers and thats it.

I Just checked the temprature when I saw some artifacts and it was 60-61 Celcius and raising. Pretty hot for sure, but then again it should be working flawless since it is stock and built to work like this!

Nothing wrong with 60C, these cards will work upto 90C+, sounds like the cards damaged in some way. Best to contact the shop on Monday.

well I guess it has a problem then, when it hits 60C+ artifacts start to appear and keep getting worse. I ll contact the shop monday I guess :(

Anyone can suggest a good way to determine if the card I got here is indeed faulty? I got an RMA but want to be sure it has a problem, however getting artifacts at 60-70C temp without mods/overclock is bad. I need to be sure as I will be without gfx for the time it takes to get replaced :(

thanks for any input!

I wont be able to play my games then. I bought this card so I could enjoy some new games until I spare some money to buy PCIe spec PC. Not lucky I guess :(

In my experience overclockers seem to have a very quick turnaround when rma's are concerned, send it back today and u should have a new one by the end of the week! if they have the stock that is.

They are pretty quick, 7-10 days turnaround i think, my mate sent his Asus A8R32 MVP back last Monday as it was DOA, his replacements arriving today, probably arrived now, but he's at work till about half 5. :)
