Problems fitting a Ninja Scythe

I've got a Ninja scythe plus rev.b heatsink to fit on top of my E66 but it doesn't seem to make contact with the cpu.

It clips down, snaps into place. I can lift up the mobo with it attached, so I'm pretty sure it's connected. When I took a look at the bottem of the ninja, I saw a tiny line of arctic silver but the rest of the heatsink was completely clean.

Am I being a total fool here and installing it backwards or something? I'd love to fit this thing in as my stock intel cooler sucks :( (60c temps idle)

EDIT: It's being used on a EVGA 680i mobo

ARGH, the ninja does not fit on the evga 680i they made the mounting bracket circular instead of square and it catches on some chips... sigh.

Can anyone recommend another decent cooler that doesn't have stupid mounting brackets? (Tuniq Tower?) Also, am I stuck with this useless hsf or can I return it.

Yeah the Tuniq Tower is an awesome cooler, I moved from a Ninja to that...

Or you can make a cut in the bracket so that it fits your board.

This is what I did initally to get it to fit my P5B board

Thanks mate! Hacksawed it this evening and now it fits perfectly.

Not wishing to make another thread but I have some serious heat issues, 60c idle E66 at stock??? That's as bad as the intel stock one!

I refuse to believe that the ninja can't perform any better then the stock intel...

Oh dear, just ran orthos and it's hitting 80c after 15seconds? That's ridiculous. Help anyone?

make sure the fins on the base of the Ninja are inline with the fan flow blowing over it, was a mistake I made when 1st fitting the ninja :D
