Problems installing 4870x2

so i recieved my 4870x2, i uninstalled my nvidia drivers and entered safe mode and removed the rest using driver cleaner pro, i then shut down and put in the new card, everything loads up fine get into windows (wonderful res) and then i get a bsod when my desktop loads. ive removed all drivers and it still happens.

if i try and install the ati drivers in safemode it comes up with the error "failed to load detection system"

any ideas?
 
I would just do a clean Windows install tbh, then at least you know 100% there is no driver conflict happening.

What rating is your power supply btw?
 
Installed today here. I ended up having to use the drivers with the card. Any I downloaded from Ati for the x64 didnt even install properly, no ccc, could even change res. Very odd.

But the ones with the card are fine, just been playing Crysis on all settings very high and its lush. Gotta install some more games as I dont really like Crysis anyway :D
 
Same issue I had, no CCC available. I got round the prob by installing the ones from the disc, the installing the downloaded ones directly over them without uninstalling the original ones from the disc.
 
tried using the drivers from the cd the ones downloaded from the his website and the ones downloaded from the ati website cant get any of them to install in safe mode keeps saying "failed to load detection system" and then installs nothing.

when i then leave safe mode and try and enter windows normally i get a bsod and it then just restarts.

bit stuck here looks like i may have to reinstall windows yay!
 
I had to reinstall vista when i installed a 4870, when a nvidia card was previously installed, even using driver cleaner didnt help.

And can some please upload the drivers that come with the CD? mine did not come with a CD... and i'm using ones from aTI's site but there not working well at all.
 
well after a few installs of windows and trying to get things installed in the right order, it may be working now...took forever to get right, it seems like the CCC had an issue with a directx update that futuremark installed which caused a bsod, so i installed directx before the ati drivers this time and so far so good, but at work now so cant really test it. but at least it was loading up!
