Hi all, i'm having a nightmare installing windows on an old laptop, it's got ubuntu 9.1 installed and grub is stopping me boot from cd drive coming up with "memory overflow error"

here's a list of things i have tried:
1) removed hdd and plugged into another computer to format ect
2) tried partition magic (won't even load on windows 7)

i can't do anything other than create a fat32/ntfs partition no matter what i do grub remains

i have looked around on google but can't seem to find a simple solution to this issue it's ether an simple question that turn's into a linux vs windows war or general bitching about why you would want to remove the great linux........ anyway i'm really hoping someone can give me a little help with this

Have you tried booting with an old Windows 98 boot disk and checked over your bios?

I find just FDISK the Hard drive and then place in the puter and XP/Windows 7 will format for you ( it will of course now be showing it's full monty.
I have just cracked an 80GB tha would not show above 32GB not withstanding the jumps had been changed. Strange how them old 98 disks out the steam age can still crack a few things in modern times.
