Hi

My brother has just bought a secondhand laptop but hasn't got the username and password to get in. The default Administrator accound has been disabled. Is there any way of getting the password?

Thanks

If it was possible to get the password wouldn't it be a bit silly? There may aswell just not be a password :p

Maybe there is a crazy way to do it but all I think is possible is format.

No there are a load of tools that can be used to create a new administrator user without actually having a login. The ones I've used are bootable CDs that are based on the NT kernel. You tell it a new username and it makes an administrator user with that name. Log in with that user and reset the real admin password.

I won't mention any specifically becasue the sites that host these osrt of thing are usually classed as "hacker tools" regardless of whether you have the rights to do it or not.

EDIT: Email me at billy the impaler at gmail dot com if you want me to get more specific.

Quite surprised by this. Previous owner did not do a system restore? Or he's got nothing important on there? Anyway, recommend you do that - might not just be a username/password issue larking
