Hi,

My Athlon 2000+ is playing up, tried installing vista and it didn't like it for some reason, now when I come to trying to put XP Pro back on it crashes, just turns itself off, then I have to turn off at the plug before I can power back on. Occassionally I get a Memory Management error, but I've changed the RAM around and with a different machine and don't get any errors.
I thought it might be a PSU issue, so I disconnected everything but the bare minimum and still crashes galore.

So its an old machine and I'm thinking about a possible new build. I would re-use my Centurion case, and DVD re-writer, possibly replacing them when I get some more money.

Looking at around the 350 quid mark at the moment, and have looked at this:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £56.99
(£66.96)
OcUK ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £61.99
(£72.84)
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) £53.99
(£63.44)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail £93.99
(£110.44)
Asrock ALiveSATA2-GLAN (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £34.99
(£41.11)

What do people think, I'll be looking to play some games, when I built my 2000+ system it was a tidy piece of kit and I haven't built a great deal since, so thoughts are appreciated!! ;)

Thanks AFF

Thanks for the reply, I won't be doing any overclocking to be honest, always seems to end in trouble for me!!
