Problems running Java in Firefox and ActiveX controls

Installed it, but when i tried to load photos in Faccebook, I get this message.

Tried reinstalling to no avail.

And also ActiveX controls seems to be disabled in Explorer. Without Active X, lots of things don't work ! :(

For the IE plugins problem, check that you haven't disabled the plugins or that nothing has done this on your behalf.

IE>Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Manage add-ons. Check that nothing is disabled. Once this is done, go to Security tab and see what zone your site needing ActiveX is in or what security level. Too high a security level and ActiveX won't be allowed to run.

And as for Java, you've installed the latest version? And have you got any older versions on your PC? If so, get rid of them.

Then if this doesn't work, try a new profile with FF, just don't delete your current one. A new profile may not fix the error and you wouldn't want to have removed your current profile.

looked over HJT logs and spyware scanned and stuff? looks like maybe a browser hijack maybe?

also got any software installed that might have disabled this stuff like spywareblaster or anything?

Fixed the IE problem, silly me was using a short cut in the start menu where it starts with no add ons.

As for FF, it's no spyware or hijacks, i just installed windows 6 hours ago on a brand new HD, not gone to any websites but a couple of regular forums and facebook. I did install the latest Java, even the version with development tools but it's all the same. Really weird.

Do you do any Java programming? If you don't, you don't need the developing tools version of Java. You just want the Runtime environment, https://sdlc6c.sun.com:443/ECom/EComActionServlet;jsessionid=BA3F5BE0920CB221A43B9B4CDB3502C1.

Why not try another site that needs Java and see how that works. http://secunia.com/software_inspector/

That'll scan your PC for apps and progs you've got and whether or not you have the latest versions. If it works then it might not be Java as such but the site. If it doesn't work then it sounds as if you've a borked Java install or something.

I have an issue with Java with my copy of Firefox too, with Java applets on websites, such as speed tests, chat, etc. It just doesn't recognise I have it, even though I have the latest version and I have it enabled in my options.
