Hi, I have just purchased another two gigs of RAM from OC and am having trouble getting it to work. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been using Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) with my Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard for just over a year now, no problems at all. A few days ago I decided to upgrade to 4GB, so I ordered another two sticks of the XMS2-6400C4. Put them into my two spare slots, turned the PC on and it froze at the screen showing my motherboard. I could not enter BIOS or anything.

I then removed the two new sticks, and everything went back to working perfectly. My original two sticks were in slots 1 and 3. My initial thought was that my new RAM may be faulty, so I tried using the new RAM in slots 1 and 3. Everything worked fine. I have since tried various combinations of the RAM, seeing if 3 sticks would work but I have had no luck.

I am running Windows Vista 64-bit, all my PC components can been seen here

Any help / advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ok, if a hardware issue before it reaches Windows it may be you need Raise the Memory Voltage and/or Northbridge Voltage.

I would set the Memory to 2.1v for now and Raise NB by 0.1v.

However, if its actually crashing as it detects Windows its a known issue with Vista 4GB.

You need install a hotfix then the extra 2GB or simply install SP1.
