Problems with archive files corruption after installing a WD 5000AAKS drive. Some of the files I copied from my previous hard drive are now corrupted.
Another example,I create a ZIP file and tested it and is OK.
Then shut computer down and re-boot....test same file previously created and now saying..can not extract file because is corrupted.
Anyone experience this before ?
Drive is running fine and fast with incredible readings.
Even tested it with Western Digital Tools and pass all tests.
I placed pins on position 5-6 so drive is fully compatible with Sata 1.0 standard as stated on their website.
I have a Abit NF-S 2.0 mobo with a Athlon XP mobile and running the latest Bios.
Any ideas ?

Cheers

There are quite a few links being returned by Google for SATA corruption on NFS-7 V2s, this is an interesting quote, might point you in the right direction.

Just as an off-topic comment, I have an Abit NFS-7 V2 motherboard with
an SiI 3112 controller. I have had problems with data corruption, which
I think are associated with shut-down, when Windows 200 doesn't issue a
flush command (as the drives aren't IDE) and there isn't sufficient
elapsed time to flush the HD cache before power drops. The latest BIOS
and drivers are essential. I also force the swapfile to be cleared at
shutdown, which purges all the useful data from the HD cache

Thanks for the advice mate,

I did a search through Google and visited other forums and understand of the following :

Will update to latest SiI 3112 controller driver.
Will try to change the EXT-P2P setting in the BIOS from 30 microseconds to 1 milisecond to see if I can cure the problem.

Will have a try this eve when I get home.

Updated to latest driver v 1.0.0.50 and changed EXT-P2P settings in the BIOS from 30 microseconds to 1 milisecond.
No more file corruption...and excellent readings up to 72.6 Mb/s Avg sequential reading using HD tach 3.0.
Problem solved so far !

Cheers
