Is anyone else finding Firefox really strange at the moment?

I've just been sitting merrily watching Dragons Den and browsing the internet, when Firefox automatically closed all its pages. When I tried to restart, it insisted that I create some profile with my preferences. Eventually, when it let me get to the home page, I found that it had wiped all my history and bookmarked pages - some of which I have no chance of finding again through Google etc. Soooo, anyone else finding the same issue; and does any kind person know of any way I can recover the bookmarks that I used to have?

Aaarghhh!

I'm uzing Mozilla and had the same problem a few days ago. Couldn't get them back which is really annoying. Ah well.

If it's created a new profile, is your old one still there?
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

As said, pointing out what version you're running might be a good idea.

Actually just did a wee search and got mine back... used this.... linky

You are my hero :) All recovered, much to my relief!

tolien - as far as I'm aware, I didn't have a profile in the first place - this made me create one, and I think the only reason I've managed to recover the bookmarks is because it automatically saves. I seem to be running 1.0.7 (apologies - should have said that initially), but over the last few months, I've found Firefox quite erratic - trying to run surveys and closing down the windows when I refuse, but this was the most annoying so far.

if i was a thinking of moving over to firefox, i certainly would be put off with the amount of problematic firefox threads there have been recently. but as i've been using it for a quite a while now, i can honestly say i've never had it misbehave - not even once. i can only assume it's 3rd party extensions that are causing problems nowadays? or am i just lucky....:p

I still prefer it significantly to IE - much easier to move around.

You did. The profile manager just created another.

Upgrading to the latest stable (1.5.0.6) version would be an excellent idea.

On the other hand, if folks were posting saying Windows 95 had issues, I'd think "duh".

Seems to be happening quite a bit recently.... (backs up %appdata%/Mozilla)

Just updated mine and it's once again deleted all my bookmarks (good job I backed them up but it's not the point) and now as I type, the screen is jumping up and down :(
