problems with grahpics card

If you can confirm it is definitely dead then stick it in the oven :) tonnes of people do it with that very card (dunno why, maybe because its a popular and old card) and it usually pays off for them.

Many people buy broken 8*** Nvidia cards of ebay for cheap and fix them by putting them in the oven.

My 465 was dead and I did it yesterday and its good as new now :)

The graphics card was working fine before I did the changes. And the fan still spins on the card but nothing from the monitor? Like I said any Help is appreciated!

Make sure that everything is plugged in properly - I had this problem the other day when the 8-pin PCI-E power wasn't in. Check that the graphics card itself is properly seated.

try the onboard gpu if it has it... if that works... the 8600gt is dead

Way too early to jump to that conclusion.

Because that, for what I needed it for that will do exactly what I want, I don't want to get into discussion about what I "should" of bought. I am happy with what I've got! Again like I said I am just after abit of information and help.
Thanks.

Try booting up with just one stick of ram, if no joy try it in all slots, if still no joy repeat for all other sticks, maybe you have some dead ram?

All the ram is brand new with the bundle, I wouldent imagine that is the problem? But yeah I will try that thanks! I've already tried changing the gcard into most of the other slots? I think putting the card in the oven is abit drastic step just yet isent it lol! But thanks for the comments! =)

My previous ram was brand spanking new from OCUK and one of the 2 sticks was DOA, and gave similar symptoms to yours, so it can and does happen :(

Will have to get back to you on the make and model of the psu, it is quite old so maybe that's the problem, and thanks space monkey I will try the ram in different slots tomorrow see if that makes a difference. I hope that's not the case though! :(
