problems with grahpics card

well 100 pound maximum.. that wud b at a very big push.. can anyone recommend and reputable brand names to be searching for ? i really dont see the problem with the PSU spacemonkey suggested though?!

even then i still havent got a solution to my problem have i lol? what happens if i buy a really high end PSU and my original problem still isent solved lol its a lot of money that we are taking about and its not easily thrown about is it!

that PSU looks right up my street spacemonkey i am sure i can stretch to accommodate that quality. could u explain why it has to be a good quality PSU and wattage jus for future reference if needs be?
i am certainly learning that the motherboard is a bit of a beast lol it certainly does all add up for my little 450w!
so do we think this is the cause of my problems then?

As mentioned above, cheap PSUs aren't effecient, they can't put out the rated power for long, and if (when) they go, they go up in smoke, and likely to take your other parts with it, so for a few quid more now, its a lot less hassle and cost.

The PSU you have could well be the problem, as it just can't handle the new parts. Find out which power supply your mate has to see if its worth using his to test your parts on the weekend, otherwise it could be a waste of time if his is the same as yours.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-000-XF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1497 This is the one I have, its semi modular so a lot less cable clutter, more than enough power, and its first class componentry, made by Seasonic, arguably one of the best PSU makers in the world.

Review, have a ganders at this, nuff said :D LINKY POOs

And to answer the Enermax suggested above, they are fine PSUs but a lot more money, and not always the best though.

Forgot to mention, the one I have thats in the link above can be had for about £95-99 when on offer, thats when I bought mine a few weeks back, OCUK may put it back on offer on Wednesday in their week only deals?

thanks very much for taking time to help me. after what i am reading i am going to have to spend a little more money, think i am gunna go with the last link u put up for me spacemonkey, looks good and from what u say will do the job well. last thing i want after spending all this money is for it all to go up in smoke lol honestly think i would cry after all this lol! going to have to shop about abit tho see if i can get the price down really really really need to save my pennies now!!

oh and to answer your question about what PSU my mate has. i couldent tell you. but i do know its a 650w and he has spent good money on it. so yeah if i use his power supply it should be enough for what i am running at the moment. he has basicly done what i am in the process of doing now..! after seeing what he ended up with it made me want to upgrade everything lol hense all these questions and headaches!!

Can certainly appreciate the pennies thing :(

I'd rather wait a week or 2 longer and get a good PSU than cheap out and have more problems later.

Have a read of the review I linked to and see just how good the PSU is, hope you get it all sorted soon. Let us know how you get on :)

right, i will keep u posted and let u know how i get on.
thanks again for your comments it is greatly appreciated.
hopefully in the next week or two i should be sorted and will post pics up of the new setup...
cant come quick enough :D

scott.

Scott Mac,

The thing is though, we thought that my brothers psu wasnt a respectable 1 so I tried mine and still we got nothing. We have been advised that he may have a faulty motherboard (**** happens)

He is looking at getting it replaced but we havent had any news on his current status.

Yeah your brothers sounds like the motherboard since you've pretty much tried all of the troubleshooting steps that you can take.

I must admit the support from others while we have been doing this has been great. I would like to thank every1 who has brought some ideas on what to do and different things we could try.

This community is the best I have ever came accross, everyone is so happy to help. Not only in the thread we created but in any other I have been in.

Again thank you to everyone. I hope I can do the same when I have some knowledge on anything ha-ha.

Edit - Plus you make my days a little better while being at work :)

Just an update for you, we have taken his parts to the computer repair shop. They put parts in that they have in the shop and have come to the conclusion that he has a faulty motherboard.

He will be returning it and seeing if he can get a rufund. He will be purchasing a new mobo and I said to him make sure you get one with onboard gfx ha-ha.

Hope you fix your problem.
