Problems with MobileMe

Ok, signed up for the trial account. Created my username, password and all that jazz. Went to preferences and signed in to .Mac (hasn't updated). Now, though, I can't access and log on to me.com, it says invalid user or password. I know what these are as I set them up earlier today!

Signs in OK on my MBP but not online.

Any tips?
 
It appears that MobileMe is well and truly borked!
Head over to MacRumors and watch the whingefest unfold.

Shame really, because the idea behind MobileMe seems great, but boy have they done a really poor job of releasing it.
 
I still can't log in to the site! I have it working everywhere else.

on me.com - is the 'MemberName' your full @me.com address or just the first part?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I keep getting "Invalid member name or password."
 
Update. There was clearly something wrong with my account; I've now set up another one and can log in just fine.

Hmm.

Emailed Apple to make sure they don't charge me for the other one.
 
all in all i'm not impressed yet...

iDisk is massively inferior to dropbox (did a trial a bit ago and to get a 3mb file into the dropbox system took around 20 seconds, to get it coped onto my iDisk took nearly 14 minutes!!!) - and it doesn't have the superb features like right click to get public url and sharing folders with specific people

there are also bugs-a-plenty but we all know about them at the moment... but there are some really good points, i like the way the contacts and calendar stay synced (i think the service will get my 59 quid regardless for these features) and the mail is decent...

hope it all sorts itself out :( - has such potential!
 
Does DropBox integrate in to the OS like iDisk does?
it does everything that idisk does only better as far as i can tell...

the online interface for it is better aswell... but lets not forget mobileme is not just the idisk, its the other stuff if anything that makes it worth the money for me (but the idisk team really should take some leaves out of the dropbox book - they would all be relatively simple but excellent updates as far as i can see... except for the speed thing not sure what they're gonna do about that but it is morbidly slow...)
 
i seem to have found another bug...

whenever you restart the computer, the "Syncronize with MobileMe" checkbox gets unticked in the MobileMe section of system prefs... then whenever i retick it (every time) i get a message saying:

A computer named "********" is already registered with the MobileMe syncronization server.

If you use the same name for two different computers you may lose your synchronized information on all registered computers and devices.

then i have to choose "use same name" and then it all chugs to life and works...

can anyone shed any light on this as obviously i would like it to always be set to auto sync?

Not had this at all and I shut down every day.
 
Does MobileMe push all your email accounts or just the @me one?

Could I set up my blueyonder email to push to my mac, iPhone (when I get it) and web browser?
 
It seems to be working ok for me...(at the moment!) However, it doesnt like IE7 (which we know is outdated...) but it still works...

The annoying this is.. that its not true push, it just fetches and syncs at 15minute intervals..

As for the system preferences>.mac/mobile me - it took a few restarts to get that to update over the net but it appears to be working ok now!

Still lots and lots of bugs... but I'm sure the apple beavers will be working on it as we speak!

If you have a trial account - have you been charged by mistake? I've heard of a lot of people who've been charged. Whereas .Mac didnt ask for your card details to begin a trial, MobileMe does - probably to stop spammers etc...

So much potential - but I'm not feeling it yet... :)
 
out of interest, can people send mail from the mobileme account on your iphones?

i took a picture, went to options (on the picture) and chose the email option... gave it a recipient and a subject and pressed send...

after a while it pops up with:

"Cannot Send Mail

The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.me.com" faile
d"

i have tried this a few times now, the wifi connection on the phone is at full and the internet connection is working fine...

EDIT: tried a small email with no picture attached, still no luck, then tried to send the same thing through a pop3 account on the phone and it worked great.

any ideas?

btw: also annoyed its not true push, thats how it was marketed as an instant thing :(

Edit: seems a lot of problems are with the trial accounts.
yeah possibly, i had a trial account, but tried to change the username but ended up not really being possible so my account was closed and re-opened, and when it was reopened i had to pay so lost my trial...

but yes it is still a new account...
 
Does everyones contacts push to the iphone ok??
I have edited a contact then done a sync and it is still the old one on the iphone, which kinda sucks tbh.
