Problems with my new rig (memory)

I have just recieved and built my new computer.

It is:
EVGA 650i ultra motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz/4 MB cache (E6550)
2 * OCZ 1 GB RAM sticks @ 800 MHz, 4-4-4-15
7600 GT.

Everything is working all fine and dandy, apart from the RAM. It only reads 1 GB of RAM. I have tried the RAM in different slots, and it still only registered as 1 GB (at 5-5-5-15). Is the RAM faulty? Or is there something I must do?

Thanks in advance.

Is there any bios updates available that may fix this?

If not it could be the motherboard at fault, just to confirm when you put one stick in does that read 1024mb or 512mb and what are you reading with CPU-Z?

Also how much does it say in bios?

Have you tried a single stick in each of the slots in sequence to test every slot works? (Mobo *might* not support that , but should I think.) Might be a buggered DIMM slot.

I am not sure. I can't update my BIOS due to not having a CD Drive, nor a floppy drive. I don't have a DVD RW or anything.

What can I do? :[

Yes, I did.

Errr, I don't know to explain it, but I'll try.

There's four RAM slots, two a white (the first dual channel, I guess), and two are black (the second dual channel).

I've tried each ram stick in each white slot. I haven't touched the black slots. Would putting both my RAM sticks into the black slots be the same as putting them in the white? (The white slot is closest to the processor)

It may not work at all if you put them both in the black slots. I had a similar pronlem with a DFI board, turned out that to run in dual channel it needed one stick in either channel (Dimm 1 & 3 or 2 & 4). I would recommend trying one mem stick in the first white slot and one in the first black slot.

I put it in, and rebooted, and now it's at 2 GB. Heh. I don't know what the problem was.

Possibly wasn't seated properly. Make sure the DIMM's are properly in the slots and the clips each end fully latched in.

As for the timings, you can usually tweak that in the BIOS. If the RAM is running with slower timings then see if you can change it in the BIOS to match its rated settings.
