problems with my ocuk x1950pro 512mb?

sorry if this sounds a bit snappy, but i really need an answer soon because i need to send in a rma request then post it back before the post office closes :/

Mate you should have sent it back ages ago. :D

Just thought I'd let you know that my 2nd RMA was successful and I now have an 8800GT instead.

So hopefully they should refund yours with no issues.

:) i know. i was waiting for the 8800gt prices to come down, but that hasn't really happened much :( and i needed to study for my exams.

did they refund you or send you a replacement?

also did you send it back first class to them?

... did they refund your £10 due to 'no fault'?

I posted it back via Royal Mail Special Delivery, and included copies of the postage receipts along with a letter. (This was the 2nd attempt so I was putting everything in)

At the time the 8800gt's were out of stock so I asked for a refund including testing and postage costs, and I'm happy to say OcUK dealt with it very quickly and accepted.

I was very annoyed after the first RMA was sent back to me, but the service on the 2nd was very good indeed so I'm happy to use OcUK again.

from the polygon stretching and tearing and wierd dots in a pattern id say its the memory on the gfx card thats borked. best to do the rma on it if its still under warranty.

I doubt they have a dodgy batch as they must have sold loads of them, but quite a few people are having problems.

The PSU normally gets blamed but I've tried mine on two and it made no difference.

Here's some threads:

And another (I RMA'd the card yesterday), tried 2 PSU and 2 m/b:

I've also said I don't want a direct replacement for similar reasons to those mentioned above.

OCUK said the X1950 Pro was OK in their system and have sent it back again!

I'll try it again when it arrives back on Monday, I've now got a Hiper 530W PSU instead of the Antec 350W one (which had worked fine for months) just in case this was the problem, thought I don't expect this to be the case from what I've read.

If it still doesn't work I'll be *really* *****d off -- I've replaced both PSU and motherboard trying to fix the apparent short-circuit which has cost me over £90, not to mention a couple of wasted days frigging around with all this...

 i feel sorry for you, i sent back mine on friday. i'll be really *****d if it gets sent back i can't afford the cost if it gets sent back. i've overclocked the x1950gt to the ocuk x1950pro speeds, so it shouldn't be a power problem or me. hope your next attempt is succesful like monkeyman's.

Plugged it back in with the Antec 350W PSU (which has worked fine for 3 months) -- phut, fans kick over and stop, no power as before.

Put in the 530W Hiper power supply, system now boots fine. AAARGH!!!!!

Why would the Antec PSU refuse to work with a card that ran fine before (and which says in its spec that a 350W PSU is enough, which agrees with what everyone else has said)???

The only thing I can think of is that for some reason the card has decided to take more current than before at startup which is enough to tip the supply over the edge -- maybe it shouldn't be doing this, but it is.

This makes it very difficult to prove that the card is "faulty" since it's now running OK -- unless the problem reoccurs with the new supply, in which case it'll be RMA time again.

I'm extra annoyed because if I'd got a bigger replacement supply (instead of a 350W one) when the problem first occurred I wouldn't have had to buy a new motherboard, RMA the card to OCUK, and be without a playable system for 2 weeks (it's my son's PC and he's been climbing the walls).

There must be a lesson here somewhere... :-)

i have just checked my 'status' in RMA history and it says "We are currently awaiting a replacement from our supplier". does that mean the card has been tested faulty and i am getting a replacement?
