Problems with new 7950

So the final component I needed to upgrade was my graphics card to replace my MSI Cylone 6850 which had served me so well.

I chose the Gigabyte WindForce 7950, assumed it would be a straight swap but I have run into problems.

With the card firmly seated and both 6 pin connectors in place, I powered up my computer, however there is no signal, and no successful boot. All case and GPU fans spin, but that's all that happens.

My build : i5 2500k
MSI-Z68A-GD55 (g3)
Antec TP650
16gb Corsair vengeance LP
256gb Crucial M4 SSD
500gb WD HDD

Is it DOA? Or am I forgetting something?

Many Thanks for your time :)

Problem Solved! It was a bios update.

I did have the latest recommended bios, but the MSI website had bios updates that were only recommended for Ivybridge users, flashed the latest one and hey presto!

Thanks all!

Hah, I wish it was something that simple, the bios wasn't keen on working for me for a while.

Was getting a tad annoyed as I already had to RMA the first 7950 I got and didnt want to have to do it all again!

Out of interest, what is your GPU clocked at? The 7950 is 800Mhz stock, but the Gigabyte 7950 windforce is advertised as pre-overclocked to 900.

I received one earlier in the week and was surprised to see it running at 1000MHz out of the box, turns out there was a recent bios update that seemed to bump the default to 1000Mhz. Even though this Bios was pulled from the Gigabyte site it seems some cards in the retail supply chain have it (or a version of) applied.
