Problems with new build

I have been having many a problem with my most recent build and was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers.

First the spec:

Core 2 Duo 3Ghz Processor (from old rig)
OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666 RAM
3 x GTX 280's in SLI
Asus Striker 2 Extreme Mobo
Cosair 1000w power supply
2 x 74GB Raptors in Raid 0
All Watercooled

I have basically lost my mind and never had any issues with any computer builds in my entire lifetime.

I have proberly installed windows about 10 times now trying all different versions and I'm still having issues.

Currently Im running Vista Enterprise 64bit and it refuses to boot into windows without the windows cd in the drive? I have never seen this before, I have tried changing boot order but nothing works other than putting the windows cd in the drive.

I used to get 30ish FPS solid with 1 card in Crysis now I get 70fps and when people appear it drops to about 10fps where as before it used to drop to 25 at the worse. This is at full res on a 30inch dell everything on very high.

Then I decided to run COD 4 everything on full again and full AA and it runs 200-250+ fps. It almost seems like just crysis ?

On previous attempts It would blue screen loads while trying to play crysis and sometimes just crash in windows, everything is currently at stock speed aswell?

Any help would be great

Thanks

Bios update

Sounds like your motherboard bios needs updated. Check the manufacture site for the latest updates. I had this problem with my 8800 gts in my old machine. It crashed during gameplay about 3 minutes in. The update made it stable again.

I could see updates for your bios on the asus site but unfortunitly none that where related graphics wise.

Other things you might want to try:

Check the event viewer in admin tools in CP.

Download the latest drivers directly from the nvidia site. I found that files where corrupt on some discs that came with a few of my cards.

Check that the cards are all the exact same (Firmware version, manufacturer). I've heard that with nvidia cards they are very strict for sli.

Make sure everything including monitor cables are plugged in tightly and that all the cards are getting power.

You might also want to check the temperature of the cards while they are running. Try GPUZ -http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Ill keep looking to see if I can find anything for ya.

AMPS

Darn I forgot to mention one thing. Does your PSU produce enought amps to power all your graphics cards? That could be the issue.

That could be the issue.
The Corsair HX 1000W is certified to run a 3-way SLi rig.

OP, you running everything at stock? Only other thing I can think of is insufficient airflow meaning its running hot. Check temps

Thanks for the help so far guys, temps idle are about 50 for the cards and dont go above 90 under load, even made the fans run at 100% to make sure its not a overheating issue.

Everything is at stock at the moment want it to work before I clock, its fine on 1 card most of the time even clocked but as soon as 3 cards or even 2 it seems to crash or get load of on screen glitches and slow downs, I am using the newest drivers on the nvida website.

Tried XP 32, XP 64, Vista 32 and Vista 64 all with similar issues, its driving me nuts I just want to play at a stupid res with everything on very high is that too much to ask ;)

Oh and the cards were ordered all the same day, all Asus cards.

Also air flow in case is very good with 3 x 120 mm fans and also another 2 fans on the rad for the watercooling

You said your system has trouble with only 1 in 10% of the time? Maybe having the 3 cards exadurates the problem. Have you got suitable voltages to your RAM / memory controllers?

Have you tried each card on it's own?

I have tried each card on its own, with 3 cards it will always crash on crysis 100% where as with just one card its fine just abit slow.
