Hi All

My new machine is throwing a couple of strange issues. Any help offered would be greatly received.

1st issue is when i play CS Source the models and barrels etc etc look like they are ghosts when viewed from a distance.

They look normal when getting close up.

2nd Issue is with 3dmark06, when i try to launch the program it crashes and reboots the system before its completed the system info scan. I have tried using the "-nosysteminfo" in the target line as stated on the futuremark faq's and the program will launch and run a test but then i dont get a score !!

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

The foggy/ghost issue is something to do with the drivers i think.

It happens with me , but when i run it in dx8 everything is fine :)

Thanks I will try DX8. BTW what drivers are you using i downloaded the latest drivers from the nvidia site but it didnt fix anything

Have you tried to update your drivers to the latest ones from nvidia, you have to completely remove the old ones first though as for some reason it doesnt like trying to update over the old ones,

I run 8800GTX in SLI, if i get time later ill throw in CS:S and see if i get the same problem, i have no problems with 3dmark05 or 06.

i had lock up on system scan with 3dmark06 but updated to newer version and all was fine.

cheers.

I have unistalled the original drivers and installed the latest drivers from the nvidia website and i still get both problems the same

Running in DX8 fixes the problems with the ghosting but it does kinda take the pee that i spend almost £1000 on gfx cards to get DX10 then have to run in DX8

LOL

The CSS/HL/Source "fog" issue is well known and hopefully going to be fixed soon. Unfortunately anyone with a 8800 gets the same problem :(

Should have waited till at least Dx10 was released then, wouldn't have cost you almost 1k then, be a lot less. :p

3dMArk crahses my system on an 8800gts, along with a lot of other peoples GTS/GTX's, particularly at the beginning of test 2.

Where is yours happening out of interest?

It crashes before the program even launches

latest 3d06 patch applied?

offtopic, why have you got sli 8800gtx for that res?

dont get why you would spend so much for such a 'small' res.

I Downloaded it earlier today so it should be as up to date as poss.

And i will messing around with resolutions to see if it made any difference.

I will be running at 1680 x 1050
