Hi every one, I've run into a brick wall with overclocking my opteron 165. the chip its self is a bad overclocker (can grab the CPU stepping code if needed), but the problem isn't the CPU, it's the motherboard. This is the setup I have:
DFI Lanparty UT SLI-DR Expert (with latest BIOS)
Opteron 165
2x 1GB Ballistix DDR500
Zalman 9500
Tagan 700W
I've locked the CPU's vcore down to 1.35V, the memory at 2.71V, the LDT at 1.2V and the chipset at 1.59V (default 1.52V). I've also used the deviders and multiplyers to keep the RAM just below 200Mhz, the HT below 1000Mhz and the CPU below 1800Mhz. The system runs fine on 250FSB, but 260FSB is where the problems start. with 1.59V chipset it fails orthos blend after 2 mins, increasing the chipset to 1.62V causes windows to crash and 1.67V stops the PC booting.
I've also tryed adjusting the CPU voltage, the memory voltage, the LTD voltage (only by 0.1V) and the memory timings, all to no avail. Can any one give me some sugestions on this problem please, I was expecting to get a bit further with this.
Cheers
