Hey i used the coolbits registry mod to allow nvidias overclocking features.

Used the find optimal function and it oc'd as folllows;

GPU 560mhz -> 610mhz
VRAM 700mhz -> 800mhz

I ran the test a bunch of times and all is well.

Runs fine in all of my games except for some reason FEAR crashes about 3 seconds into a game.

If i go back to default settings or a milder oc then it runs fine.

The temp doesnt even get high enough in game for that to be the problem it goes to about 60 on air and crashes. Not sure what the problem could be as it runs fine on Oblivion at 66 degrees with no problems.

Any advice appreciated cheers.

'Find optimal' is from my experiance totally inacurate. When I run it with my 7600gt it will take the core up to a point that reboots my PC..not good..

Do it manually, it's far safer.

It would appear you have an unstable overclock. FEAR is probably the most demanding game you are trying & hence showing you the instability. You should try lowering the clocks untill it runs fine in FEAR (& 3dmark 06 too).

After some fiddling and testing the ram on my card is the limiting factor cant go much past 750 mz on stock cooler.

Core is running fine at 621 mh but a tad warm at ma load in FEAR i.e. 75 degrees.

Thinking about uprgrading to the Fatl1ty cooler. Any idea on the cooling differance itll make? Also is it supplied with VRAM sinks as this help a lot too.

Cheers

There is a thread on here about it - I'll see if I can find it. Basically the guy gets temps down to 44oC on load. I have the vf-900, very similar cooler, and am very happy with it.

edit: here it is:-
