Problems with PC not starting up...

Hi,

Been away at Uni but now back my parents have explained a problem they are having with the PC spec in sig. The computer does not work when turned on. Fans can be heard and power has certainly been delivered to CD drives but this is the extent of the PC booting up. Nothing further happens, even turning OFF/ON again and softbooting do nothing. After several attempts the PC will randomly work perfectly (No pattern to this behaviour). Once on the PC is fine.

Anybody have any ideas? Have opened it up, cleared it of dust and ensured there are no loose connections or anything obvious.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Many Thanks.

Dan.

Sounds like the PSU, any chance another one can be tested on it?

I know you said you've checked for loose connections but try re-seating the RAM and graphics card.

to be honest i just wouldnt use that computer, not after using my dads, damn i hate computers slower then mine, they annoy me.

but yeah could be the psu, give another one a try.
