Hey

I'm running Windows XP Home with the SP3 beta and one of my svchosts.exe grows is size. Over the space of about an hour it can be as big as 1.5GB and grinds my system to a halt. I've ran anti spyware and anti virus software and it brings nothing up. I'm thinking it might be related to SP3, has anybody else had this with SP3?

could be a memory leak, it's tricky identifying services that are given the generic 'svhost' name, you could troubleshoot by disabling services one by one and finding the culprit, i've not got sp3 yet so cant say i've experienced this problem specifically

use Process Monitor (google it, it's made by ms now) to find out which service is causing it

it's likely to be windows update

Found out the cause. It was the DHCP Client service that eats all the memory when using SP3 RC1. Its a known problem so I'll be rolling back to SP2 for now.

Hmm I'm running SP3 RC1 and have DHCP enabled.... so far I've been on my PC for about 3 hours. My largest running svchost is 18mb.

I don't seem to have this problem.

I've been running the SP3 RC1 for a month or so now.
