Have been playing Crysis 1 again to complete it before playing the second, and im having problems running it on very high.

My specs are in my sig, and although its all over a year old, a friend of mine is running:

Dual core 2.6ghz AMD processor
4gb Ram
Same Graphics card as me but clock speeds etc are slower.

He can run crysis on 32" at very high settings and i can only run on high with AA off.

Anything i can check to maybe be able to make the game run smoother? (All updates are downloaded for both GPU and Game.)

Im running 1080 mate, not sure what his is set at but it looks about the same lol.

I literally watched 5 mins of him playing incursion and it ran 100% better than mine :S

Looking to upgrade in a few months anyway, but meh

Going to have to go SLI this time else im wasting my bloody money! haha

as everyone has been saying, it sounds like your friend is running on a 720p screen.

i have a phenom II X4 955, a GTX 460 and a 720p screen and it runs fantastically on the custom config from the thread the centurion made. (30-50FPS)

one thing i noticed after upgrading from V1.0 to V1.21 (making sure i installed V1.1 and V1.2 before V1.21) was that the rear wheels of the hummers were not displayed. the only solution to this was to start a new game, which was fine for me because i was barely 5 mins into the game anyway

you will almost certainly be interested in this thread by thecenturion:
crysis experimentings thread

have a look for a custom config that gets you better FPS while not reducing graphics too much

Sorry to revive but still facing issues.

Im running on a 32" LG TV, but even so i thought with this spec and the quality of graphics id be fine on full.

Metro is fine, although at some parts it can drop frames with absolutely everything on including DOF and tesselation.

Your upgrading the spec of what you have in your sig,you have to much money mate:confused:

I went for a cheap motherboard bundle, and ill be honest its never run 100% and seems to struggle more than it should.

Dont know what it is, maybe i can clock the gpu a bit more for now?

Yep its the size of the screen, run it in a window or at 1680 and it is perfect, not as sharp obviously but better now all is on high.

I thought my card would manage full 1080, weird.

Also, I know this is isn't for this forum, but why is the native res on my LG 1768x1080?

I never found Crysis playable at very high with a single GTX460 at 1080p. I've since gone SLI and it's smooth as butter now with everything turned up.

Id go SLI if i wasnt cheap and bought a mATX board!! lol

Tbh it seems to be running ok now, gone to 1980x1080 instead of 1768x1080 and its actually running better?!

I know that makes no sense but it is, so i give up lol. The only thing not on V High is motion blur as it annoys me anyway. Just done Onslaught with it and its fine even with all the tank blasts so Yay.

Finished Crysis and just started Warhead, can run Warhead at Enthusiast all settings, with 16Q AA.

I had heard it was more optimized, just didn't realise by this much.

Is it just me though or is it not 'quite' as good looking as Crysis?

It doesn't use a form of FSAA on leaves, which the first game does, plus numerous other things which where removed to speed it up.

Main thing with the first game is even if you can run it fine from the start on very high, you still might get problems later on with the ship or the final part of the game due to the sheer amount of depth of field and shaders used.
