Problems with Windows 10 update?

That's worked a treat. Thank you for your help gentlemen(or ladies, User names are many and varied...:))
Much appreciated.

I'll probably revert to my ISP's automatic settings when the issue has been resolved. But for now I'm good to go. Cheers peeps.

Tried that, still doesn't work

Are you using Version 1809 (OS Build 17796.253)?

Yes I am on version 1809 but with latest updates fully up to dated (OS Build 17763.292).

But... you are on Build 17796???

Build 17796 did not existed accorded to UUP Dump website unless you made a typo on build number.

I've had this problem for the last couple of days (I'm with BT). The fix for me was to change to the Google DNS - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, that allowed updates to come through and it can still check for updates after setting the DNS back to auto.

Yeah the guys here pointed me at that and it works a treat. I reverted back to my std settings and it worked yesterday (tried it several times) However today it's been hit and miss.

Yeh it's an issue with either certain ISPs or Microsoft and certain ISPs. Started on the 29th Jan. To get around it what worked for me was to tether to my mobile and connect. Right pain the backside as it breaks the Store and stops any new installs of apps and also breaks installed games such as all Forza games running as they crash to desktop when they cant connect with the update service.

BT seems to be working again now they fixed it yesterday or someone @ MS or BT reverted the issue which caused this

WAS fixed now its broken again on BT :(

Changing my DNS on my PC worked, but not on my tablet for some reason. Glad to hear it's a widespread issue, I upgraded to a BT Smart Hub 2 the other day and thought it was related to that.

Something is borked (has to be on the day I rebuild my PC), also:

answers.microsoft.com

is down :(

Another thing to try for future reference is loading Chrome or Firefox in private mode which will disable all browser extensions.
I had the same problem with the site not loading then I tried https://downinspector.com/check/answers.microsoft.com which showed the site was up.
Put my browser in private mode and voila it loaded straight away.
Then all you need to do is figure out which offending browser extension is the culprit.
