Problems with Xonar DX

Ive had a Xonar DX for about a week or so now and it seemed fine to start with, then i noticed when booting into windows a very noticible click coming from the sound card and same on shut down. Come friday i turned my pc on and it came up with a pop up for new multimedia device found, it wont let me install it as its saying no soundcard detected. Ive today reinstalled vista to no avail and also tried another pci-e 1x slot with now luck either

Anyone else with a DX confirm if there card clicks (it is noticible) I'll wait till tuesday and test in my work pc but at least i have onboard for now

Mine does too. I think it's deliberate - some sort of relay that cuts in to avoid surges on startup and shutdown.

i thought as much but why when it was installed would it be ok one day then not the next, ill have to try it in pc at work before i request rma

right, i guess its not normal to be told that no soundcard is installed when its physically in the slot and connected to power then

I meant the clicking noise.

sorry it was my bad sense of humour, i guess weve concluded the clicking is normal, but mine must be borked which is a damn shame as the sound was mighty impressive.

Oh well, i tried it this morning in a different pc, and it was the same, which is a shame ive been put off them now and should have kept my audigy 2 zs, card is on its way back for testing and hopefully refund
