I have a 6800GT and i think its time to replace it

When i play games like BF2 no matter what settings i have it on my FSP goes from 50 ~ 60 to suddenly 10 or less for 10 seconds then returns to 50+ This is doing my head in now and it makes playing games no fun.

Now my card is AGP is there any better AGP cards other than the 6800GT (ASUS) or is the problem i have fixable?

My Spec

AMD 64 3500+
ASUS AV8-N Delux M/Board
Asus 256MB 6800 GT
2 Gig RAM

That is most definitely not the card being too low performance. I play BF2 at 1280x1024 with 8af and 4aa and it runs never does that. Near constant 60fps, lowest probably high 20's but never for more than a second.

That'll knock you and your system into next xmas :p
Pound for pound the best AGP card.
A cheaper option is a 7600GT that if clocked would be a step up from your current card.
The top end AGP NVid card is the 7800GS+ GLH edition but that is quite a bit more money.

As far as your current card goes when was the last time you took it out and cleaned out the cooler ?

do you have anything else running as a service such as mail server, explorer etc? these could be trying to communicate and slowing BF2 down or something could be paging.

I'd put my money on symantec products such as norton av or security suite...
